Between the lines - Marin Cilic
Marin Cilic talks Pope John Paul II, Goran Ivanisevic and Denzel Washington...
Q: If you weren’t a professional tennis player, what would you be doing?
MC: I would try to be a professional tennis player (laughs). Just kidding, I would try to be in some other sport like football or basketball.
Q: What are your other main interests outside of tennis?
MC: Watching football and following other Croatian athletes to see how they’re doing. Tottenham are one of my favourite teams so I like to watch them and I just enjoy sport in general.
Q: If you could meet anyone past or present, who would it be?
MC: Pope John Paul II.
Q: Who were your idols when you were growing up?
MC: Goran (Ivanisevic) definitely. He is a really nice guy and has helped me a lot.
Q: What is your favourite sport apart from tennis?
MC: Football.
Q: What music are you into?
MC: I like listening to some Croatian music and a mix of pop and rock.
Q: What is your favourite film?
MC: I liked Lord of the Rings and Déjà vu was also good with Denzel Washington, he’s one of my favourite actors. I also liked Braveheart.
Q: If you were reincarnated, what animal would you come back as?
MC: Lion.
Q: If you could learn a new talent, what would it be?
MC: To sing and play the guitar.
