The All England Club, Wimbledon, was shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of Brad Drewett, the ATP's Executive Chairman and President.
"I knew Brad from my very early days as a player on the ATP Tour and I always respected the way he conducted himself both on and off court," said Richard Lewis, Chief Executive of The Championships. "I enjoyed seeing him these last twelve months following my appointment at Wimbledon and am so very sad at his passing. My thoughts are with his family at this very difficult time."
Brad was part of the ATP for more than 35 years as a player, ATP Player Council member, ATP Player Board member, as CEO of the International Region, Tournament Director of the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, and most recently as the ATP Executive Chairman and President for the last 12 months, and he has played a significant role in the development of the men's game throughout his tenure.
In January it was announced that the 54-year-old had been battling motor neurone disease, also known as ALS or Lou Gehrig’s Disease, and would be stepping down from his role at the ATP. He passed away at his home in Sydney.
The Club's thoughts and condolences are with Brad's family and friends and the entire tennis community.
