Just two days ago, Monica Puig stunned the tennis world by beating World No.5 Sara Errani in straight sets. Now, she will begin her preparations for The Championship third round following her three set victory over Silvia Soler-Espinosa.
Having reached the third round at Roland Garros, the 19-year-old will be hoping she can progress further this week.
I met the player ranked No.65 and unearthed some interesting facts…
If you were going to go on holiday around the world, who would you take?
That’s a tough one. Can it be my dog (laughter)? I think at this point I would have to say my brother because all the places I go to he gets really jealous so it would be a real treat for him to come. Also, my mum because she’s always travelling with me and it would be weird not to travel with her.
Who would you want to act as you in a movie?
I think Jennifer Lawrence because she’s very bubbly. Even when she fell at the Oscars she made a big joke out of it so I definitely like her.
What is your favourite British food?
Oh I haven’t had that much but I would say fish and chips. I really liked fish and chips when I was in Eastbourne.
What three things would you take on holiday?
I think my phone and a suitcase full of clothes (laughter) and my dog.
What has been your favourite thing about The Championships so far?
I think it’s probably the family I’m staying with. I’m staying in a house not too far from here and every time I get home everybody is so welcoming and nice. It’s been the most special because it has helped me feel at home.
