Five minutes with: Madison Keys

By William Denny

Despite beating Briton Heather Watson in the first round, Madison Keys is earning herself many admirers as she progresses into the third round of Wimbledon. By beating the world No.30 Mona Barthel in straight sets (6-2, 6-4) and with many top seeds withdrawing, the 18-year-old American will be hoping that she can go deep into The Championships.

Madison told me what animal she would be and what she would choose between Pimms and strawberries and cream.

Who would you want to act as you in a movie?

Probably Beyonce because I have a complete and utter girl crush on her (laughter).

If you could be an animal, what would you be?

Interesting question, I’ve never been asked that before. I would like to be a panda bear because they are my favourite animals.

What three things would you take on holiday?

My Kindle, my phone and… sunglasses because it would be somewhere hot.

What is your favourite meal?

I love Chinese food. If you give me any Chinese food I’m happy (laughter).

Which player, past or present, would you like to give you a tour around Wimbledon?

Probably Martina Navratilova because she won so many titles and she’s really nice.

And finally… Pimms or strawberries and cream?

Pimms. Pimms all the way (laughter).
