Sabine Lisicki - second round

Sabine Lisicki talks to the media after her 6-3, 6-1 over Elena Vesnina

Q.  I just wanted to ask you about the secret to your grass court success.  Seems like every time you step on this surface you're a whole new player.

SABINE LISICKI:  Well, I obviously love playing here.  It's my favorite tournament of the year.  Feels very special to me to come back here.

It's always fun to play out there.  Obviously on grass it's always something special.  A lot of fun.

Q.  What are the things about your game on grass that work well together?  Is it more that it helps your power?  Is it the bounce?

SABINE LISICKI:  I'm serving well and I know what to expect on the grass.  I feel very good moving on the grass.

I really, really enjoy playing here.  So I think everything together makes me feel so good.

Q.  Are there are a few secrets to grass success you can tell me?

SABINE LISICKI:  Serving well.

Q.  That's it?

SABINE LISICKI:  Serving well and being focused.  (Smiling.)

I think that's what I'm doing pretty well.  That's why it's so fun.

Q.  You've only lost seven games so far.  How do you feel this year compared to the previous two years when you had great runs also?

SABINE LISICKI:  Last year I was struggling a little bit in the beginning.  I remember winning 8‑6 in the third set.

But this time I really feel a lot more comfortable.  I'm playing and hitting the ball better, I think.  So I've been working really hard but enjoying my time off the court as well.

So I think I'm finding the right mixture.

Q.  How do you view the draw?  Bottom half seems to have spread wide open.

SABINE LISICKI:  I'm happy I didn't play yesterday.  (Laughter.)

Q.  How do you feel given the fact you has a couple slips there yesterday?

SABINE LISICKI:  Good.  I didn't fall once, I didn't slip once, so I was fine.

No, it was very surprising to see what happened yesterday.  I just focused on myself.  Had a tough draw, but when you're winning those kind of matches, you're in the tournament, you're playing well, so it's always good to have a good challenge.

Q.  What do you think it is that makes grass hard for so many other players?  Stosur has played very well on other surfaces, but only her second time in the third round of Wimbledon in 11 years.

SABINE LISICKI:  I don't know.  You should ask her.

Q.  I guess you have another match first, but there is a potential for Serena sort of beyond that.

SABINE LISICKI:  I first have to win the next round.  You cannot look too far ahead.  Of course I want get to that match, but first comes first.
