Heartache for defending doubles champion Marray

By Stuart Appleby
The British No.9 seeds Jonathan Marray and Colin Fleming lost 7-6(5), 7-5, 6-3 to three-time Wimbledon finalist Robert Lindstedt and two-time champion Daniel Nestor on Court 7 in an encounter dominated, for the most part, by big serving.

Marray, who partnered Sweden's Frederik Nielsen in 2012 to become the first pair to get to the final and win the competition after receiving a Wimbledon wild card, was the only man to be broken in the match and lost his serve once in the second set and once in the third against the No.6 seeds.

Two-time Gentlemen's Doubles winners Bob and Mike Bryan were pushed hard by British pair Dom Inglot and Treat Huey but eventually prevailed through to the quarter-finals.

The famous American duo came through in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3, 7-6 (3), to end British interest in the event. They will meet eighth seeds, Mahesh Bhupathi and Julian Knowle next.

Elsewhere, India's Leander Paes and Czech Radek Stepanek defeated Polish pair Lukasz Kubot and Marcin Matkowski 6-4, 6-2, 6-4. The experienced double act will now play 11th seeds, Julien Benneteau and Nenad Zimonjic in the quarter-finals, following their impressive 6-3, 6-4, 6-7 (7), 6-7 (4), 3-6 victory over Aisam Qureshi and Jean-Julien Rojer.

In other matches India's Rohan Bopanna and Edouard Roger-Vasselin beat No.3 seeds Bruno Soares of Brazil, and Austria's Alexander Peya, 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (5), 6-2.

1999 champion Mahesh Bhupathi and 2004 finalist Julian Knowle teamed up to defeat Canadian duo Jesse Levine and Vasek Pospisil on Court 6 – 6-2, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4, to advance through to the fourth round.
