As the world No.1 prepares for his seventh Grand Slam final, Novak Djokovic speaks of his epic semi-final with Juan Martin Del Potro, the Centre Court roof and Andy Murray versus Serena Williams.
On his serve
It's not always possible to maintain this high level of performance or serve, for example, if you take that part of my game.
But the important thing is always to have that motivation, that drive inside of you to always become better because, you know, I feel that there is few things in my game that I can work on and always room for improvement. That's something that always inspires me to be on the practice courts every day and, you know, to try to play my best.
On the Centre Court roof
Oh, the roof. Well, if I compare the two matches, second round, third round, I prefer with the open roof.
On Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic
We wanted to invite Nemanja because he's one of the most successful and most recognised Serbian people in the world. Of course it would be a great pleasure to have him.
He accepted that, and he said he would be here in these days. You know, he wanted to come and watch with his wife, so that's how we got in touch.
He's a lucky charm.
On Murray v Serena Williams
I'll have to think about it, because I heard now first time about it. But I guess it would be a lot of fun, fun to watch.
On the year of the giant-killers
Yeah, a lot of top players, both men's and women's draw, have lost quite early in the tournament. But credit to all the players that have won against them.
On his epic five-set semi-final
It was a very high‑quality tennis from the first to the last point. There's not many unforced errors. I think there was a lot of, lot of winners. So both of us, we tried to dictate the play. I did have opportunities in the fourth set when I was a break up and match points in tie-breaker to end out the match earlier.
But credit to him, because he show his fighting spirit. He came up with from back of the court some amazing flat backhands and forehands that you cannot say anything but congratulate him on that and move on.
But I managed to hang in there, stay tough, and really glad to win.
On his relationship with Andy Murray
Yeah, we know each other since we were 11 years old. On and off the court we have lots of respect for each other. Always very fair, very honest relationship.
You know, now we are big rivals and it's difficult. Obviously it's difficult. He has his own team, his own routines, his own way. I have on my side also individually.
So we don't get together and have dinners and parties, but we definitely always chat and remember the fun days we had as juniors.
On the Wimbledon final
I'm definitely looking forward to the final. It's the biggest final in tennis that you can be a part of, so I'm very honored to be playing in that match again.
You know, the 2011 experience and winning that trophy can maybe help me prior to tomorrow's encounter.
