Royal Mail issues stamps to celebrate Murray's Wimbledon win
Royal Mail is to celebrate Andy Murray’s historic win in the Gentlemen’s Singles final at Wimbledon by issuing commemorative stamps.
The stamps, on sale from 8 August, will mark Murray’s achievement in becoming the first Briton to win the Gentlemen’s Singles Championship in 77 years with his straight sets win over world No.1 and top seed Novak Djokovic. Fred Perry was the last Briton to win the Gentlemen’s Singles title, in 1936.
The issue features different images of Murray on four stamps, all printed within a miniature sheet. Two stamps show him with the trophy (one at 1st Class rate and one at the £1.28 overseas letter rate) and two are action shots from the final (one at 1st Class rate and one at the £1.28 overseas letter rate). The miniature sheet will retail at £3.76.
The stamps can be pre-ordered online at www.royalmail.com/tennis and by phone on 08457 641 641. They will be available in over 10,000 Post Office Branches across the UK from 8 August.

“Andy’s stamp joins just a handful of special stamps we have issued to mark unique moments in British sporting history, including the next day Gold Medal stamps for London 2012, England’s Ashes and football and rugby World Cup wins.”
This is the second time Murray’s achievements have been marked by a Royal Mail stamp. Royal Mail issued a Gold Medal stamp to mark his win in the Tennis Men’s Singles at the London 2012 Olympic Games last summer. Two Royal Mail post boxes were also painted gold in the Scot's honour, one on Church Road, a stone's throw from Wimbledon, and one in Dunblane.
Murray's match-winning kit, meanwhile, is on display for all to see at the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum, donated by Murray after the final. The Museum also features Roger Federer and Laura Robson's 2013 outfits, as well as Murray's Olympic-winning gear from 2012.
