The official Wimbledon 2013 annual, the definitive story of the 127th Championships, is now available.
Retold by award-winning writer Neil Harman, the official annual review comprises 160 pages packed full of memories, day-by-day highlights, player interviews, the complete draws and features on the stories that made the fortnight so memorable.
The highlight, of course, was Andy Murray’s sensational victory over world No.1 Novak Djokovic on a Centre Court bathed in glorious sunshine and boiling over with emotion. When Murray put that final, dramatic game to rest it signalled the end of a 77-year wait for a British men’s singles champion at Wimbledon.
But Murray’s historic triumph was just the final act of a Championships that almost defies description. Wimbledon 2013 covers how former champions Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer both departed the tournament before the third round for the first time in Grand Slam history, how ‘Wacky Wednesday’ became one of the most astonishing days ever at Wimbledon, and charts Laura Robson's passage to the second week for the first time. It also delves into Marion Bartoli's sensational run to the Ladies' Singles title, as well as focusing on the Bryan brothers, who achieved a Grand Slam of Grand Slams in the men’s doubles.
"A book that I am so proud and honoured to be on the front page," commented Bartoli.
Every day of this year's Championships saw something memorable take place, all of which is recorded for posterity in Wimbledon 2013 – a great souvenir of a truly remarkable fortnight.
Wimbledon 2013 is published by Vision Sports Publishing with a retail price of £20. It is available from the Wimbledon Shops, shop.wimbledon.com, Amazon and all good book shops.
