Arrived over night from the UK landing in Kolkata with immediate good memories of all that is so amazing about this country as I travel from airport to hotel. A mass of people, cars, traffic jams, side walk makeshift stores selling oh so many different foods and goods just amazing.
I was treated to a terrific welcome at the South Club by key people who are so keen for the Club and Bengal tennis Association to host the week of the Road to Wimbledon. The grass courts look tempting and it will be interesting to see the juniors adapt as many will never have played on grass.
The South Club is the first of four Road to Wimbledon tournaments in January and February with the top 16 boys and girls qualifying for the Masters in Delhi in April.
AELTC Head Coach Dan Bloxham is arriving Tuesday for a major clinic and coaches' programme of activity with HSBC Ambassador Tim Henman coming in Sunday. Little does he know how busy he will be with clinics, presentations and photo calls as well as hitting with the finalists on grass after the finals.
It promises to be a great week.
