Tournament Director Paul Hutchins is blogging from India as the first qualifying events for the Road to Wimbledon in India 2015, supported by HSBC, begin in Kolkata... READ MORE

Continuation of Road to Wimbledon on grass at South Club. Courts really fast and juniors adapting well with pre quarter final matches being played. 64 boys draw and 48 girls draw plus similar in qualifying as well as doubles so a lot of matches.

Jumping jack in the box Mr Enthusiastic Dan Bloxham continued with his second coach education with the Bengal tennis Association coaches at the DKS Club.

Red clay popular here as well as hard and 4 main cities with grass normally at the top clubs. Hopefully us promoting grass will help these clubs think twice before any surface changes and next year I want us to play nearly all our Road to Wimbledon events on grass.

Ali Akhtar the former Indian Davis Cup player and coach from the South Club was greatly impressed with all we are doing. "It is so good to see you bringing grass court tennis and all the clinics and coach education. We need this in India as so many keen juniors who need as much advice and enthusiasm as possible. We have so many memories at the South Club of great grass court tennis. I just loved my days when I played at Wimbledon."

The afternoon clinic was with 90 juniors from all over the different academies in Kolkata. It was noticeable how much the coaches who had been with us for the last two days coaching sessions had improved and all were totally absorbed in the atmosphere Dan creates.

Play continues with now getting down to the rounds with high points as only top 16 players on the rounds past points system get to the Masters in Delhi so a lot to play for.
