Mattek-Sands and Safarova continue hot streak
Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Lucie Safarova maintain their impeccable run in Grand Slams with a straightforward win over Naomi Broady and Emily Webley-Smith. READ MORE

Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Lucie Safarova remain on track to scoop their third Grand Slam doubles title of the season after easing into the second round on Tuesday.

The No.3 seeds cruised past British duo Naomi Broady and Emily Webley-Smith 6-3, 6-2 in just under an hour on court.

Despite the home crowd support the Brits were no match for their more experienced opponents, who are enjoying a golden run at Grand Slam events in 2015.

The dynamic Mattek-Sands and Safarova, a singles finalist at Roland Garros earlier this month, teamed up to win their maiden Grand Slam doubles title at the Australian Open in January and repeated the feat at the recent French Open.

In other ladies’ doubles action, Samantha Stosur and Daniela Hantuchova kept their title hopes alive with a 6-1, 7-5 win over Janette Husarova and Paula Kania.

Stosur has finished runner-up in the ladies’ doubles at SW19 three times in her career – in 2008, 2009 and 2011 – and will be hoping 2015 is the year she goes one better.

Stosur and Hantuchova will next meet No.9 seeds Casey Dellacqua and Yaroslava Shvedova, a match that pits Australian team-mates Stosur and Dellacqua against one another for a place in the third round.

Margarita Gasparyan and Alexandra Panova also advanced, overcoming Ysaline Bonaventure and Katalin Marosi 6-1, 4-6, 6-2.
