Museum & Tour FAQs

General

What are the available options?

Museum – open 10am – 5.30pm seven days a week.

Museum & Tour (Public tour) – Join one of our Tours, running several times a day. Click here to book.

Museum & Private Tour – If you would like to book a private for groups of 15 or more, please contact us to enquire. Group rates apply.

Museum & Private Tour – for 14 or fewer people there is a flat fee. Please contact us to enquire.

What does a Museum &Tour ticket include?

Take a 90-minute tour of the Grounds with a qualified Blue Badge Tour Guide, plus access to Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum, including the 3D cinema and free audio guide for the Museum in 10 languages.

What does a Museum-only ticket include?

Access to Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum, including the 3D cinema and free audio guide for the Museum in 10 languages. Museum ticket holders may also visit Centre Court, accompanied by one of our helpful Tour Assistants, on a short 10 minute visit. These depart from the the Museum Shop every 60 minutes (every 30minutes after 15.30).

When is the Museum open and what are the opening times?

The Museum is open daily (including weekends and Bank holidays) from 10am until 5.30pm.

The Museum will be closed on:

- 28 June 2015
- 13 July 2015
- 24,25 and 26 December 2015
- 1 January 2016

During The Championships, the Museum is open to Championships ticket holders only. Usual admission charges apply.

What days do the Tours run and what times are they?

Public tours run at least four times a day. Visit the booking page for availability on your chosen day.

The last day of tours before The Championships 2015 is Sunday 14 June and they recommence on Saturday 18 July.

Are tours available in other languages?

From July to September we run a public tour in Spanish every day at 3pm. Click here to book a tour in Spanish.  

For private groups we can provide tours in 17 different languages.

English (standard), Cantonese, Czech, Dutch, Flemmish, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Malay, Mandarin, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish.

Booking

Do I need to book for the Museum?

There is no need to book for a Museum only visit.

Do I need to book in advance for my tour?

We recommend advance booking to avoid disappointment. Click here to book.

I have booked online but not received a confirmation email

Occasionally due to browser issues or technical difficulties a booking may not be completed or the email might not be received. If you have not received an email, please call the Museum team on +44 (0)208 946 6131 to confirm your booking.

Do I have to print my confirmation email and bring it with me?

No, the confirmation email is for your information. All you need to do is give your name and the time you have booked for when you arrive at the admissions counter.

Can I pay in advance for my tour?

Unfortunately not, please pay on arrival.

I’d like to buy the tour as a gift, can I buy a voucher?

Yes, please call the Museum team on +44 (0)208 946 6131.

I have been given a voucher/gift card, how do I book?

Please call the Museum team on +44 (0)208 946 6131 and remember to bring the voucher/gift card on the day of your visit.

I have an e-voucher, how do I book?

Please call the Museum team on +44 (0)208 946 6131. Please remember to print the voucher that you have booked with and bring it with you.

Can I use a voucher after the expiry date?

Unfortunately not, you will have to use the voucher by the date of expiry.

I’d like to bring more than 14 people, why can’t I book online?

If bringing a large group (15 or more people) we recommend booking a private tour where group rates apply, please call the Museum team on +44 (0)208 946 6131 to check for availability.

I have a London Pass, how do I book?

You can book online here, please type ‘London Pass’ in the notes section or alternatively call the Museum team on +44 (0)208 946 6131. Make sure you bring your valid London Pass with you on the day of your visit.

What is the pricing policy for disabled visitors?

Disabled visitors are charged at Concession rate or Child rate (if 16 or under). Carers go free.

Planning your visit

What do I need to wear for the Museum and Tour?

Please wear comfortable footwear as there is lots of walking involved. The tours run in all weather so make sure you are dressed appropriately as parts of the tour will be outside.

Where should I go when I arrive?

Please come to Gate 4, where you will have your bags searched. Please then go to the Museum & Tour admissions counter in the Museum Shop where you can pay for your tickets.

Is there car parking?

There is limited car parking on site from August to April. Parking becomes inaccessible from May to July because of Championship preparations. There is no charge for parking.

Is there Blue Badge (disabled) car parking?

Yes (subject to availability), please call the Museum team on +44 (0)208 946 6131 to request a parking space.

Can I bring my dog?

No pets are allowed in the Grounds, with the exception of assistance dogs.

Where is the entrance?

The public entrance is located at Gate 4 on Church Road, SW19 5AG.

Where is the nearest London Underground station?

Southfields station, on the District line is the closest station. It is a 15 minute walk or 5 minute bus ride from the AELTC. The 493 Bus in the direction of Tooting departs regularly from close to the station. Visit the Getting here page and TfL website for further information.

Where is the nearest National Rail station?

Wimbledon station is the nearest National Rail station. Trains from Waterloo to Wimbledon take approximately 20 minutes. The AELTC is a short bus ride from the station on the 493 bus in the direction of Richmond. Visit the Getting here page and TfL website for further information.

Is there step-free access to the Tour and Museum?

There is step-free access to the Museum and Museum Shop. There is a step-free Tour route available – please contact us on +44 (0)20 8946 6131 for further details.

Is there a minimum age for children attending the Tour and Museum?

There is no minimum age, although the tour may not be suitable for very young children. Please see below. Children and young people under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Is the Tour suitable for young children?

The Tour lasts for 90 minutes and may not be suitable for very young children. We ask that parents ensure that children are properly supervised at all times for their own safety. Should children become disruptive, we may request that you leave the tour so that the enjoyment of others is not affected.

Are there facilities for baby changing?

Yes, there are facilities for baby changing in the Museum toilets and also in the Wingfield Cafe toilets.

Is there a cafe?

Is there a shop?

The Museum Shop sells a range of merchandise and souvenirs click here for more information.

Is there a cloakroom?

There are no cloakroom facilities onsite – you will not be able to leave luggage or coats behind whilst you attend your tour, so please consider this when preparing your visit.

What happens if you need to cancel my visit?

In the unlikely event that we need to cancel your visit more than 24 hours in advance we will contact you using the contact information you have supplied.

If we need to cancel tours in an emergency we will communicate the latest information on our website, Wimbledon.com/museum.

What if I need to cancel/re-arrange my booking?

During The Championships

Is the Museum open during The Championships?

The Museum is open to Championships ticket holders for every day of the Tournament, opening at 9.30am and closing at 8pm. Standard Museum admission charges apply.

Do tours run during The Championships?

There are no tours during The Championships.
