Tennis & Technology Package
Presentation, guided tour of the grounds and Museum entrance
Tennis is a punishing sport that produces some of the most extraordinary athletes in the world. The physical shape of the athletes, the power of the shots and the speed at which the sport is now played has all been driven by technological advances. Technology has shaped every last aspect of the sport, forcing the players to adapt but it is this constant desire to better today’s best that keeps tennis at the elite end of sport.
Using the Museum’s handling collection of modern and vintage clothing, rackets, strings and tennis balls, students will discover just how each new technological change off court has altered the matches on court.

There is an increasing demand for bigger and better facilities for our sporting events, both from competitors and fans alike, similarly there is a desire for these large sporting events to become more environmentally aware; but just how much can a stadium impact the environment around it?
Through exploring Wimbledon’s grounds and buildings, both old and new, used for the two weeks of the Wimbledon Championships students are encouraged to draw their own conclusions on the environmental impact of a major sporting event and what further measures for limiting this could be introduced for the future.
