Tennis & Technology Package

Presentation, guided tour of the grounds and Museum entrance

Tennis is a punishing sport that produces some of the most extraordinary athletes in the world. The physical shape of the athletes, the power of the shots and the speed at which the sport is now played has all been driven by technological advances. Technology has shaped every last aspect of the sport, forcing the players to adapt but it is this constant desire to better today’s best that keeps tennis at the elite end of sport.

Using the Museum’s handling collection of modern and vintage clothing, rackets, strings and tennis balls, students will discover just how each new technological change off court has altered the matches on court.

Nutrition & Fitness Package

Presentation, guided tour of the grounds and Museum entrance

Amongst their armoury tennis players need an explosive first step, the energy to sprint a kilometre every hour, and the flexibility to change direction every 1.1 seconds. If you ever thought tennis looked easy, learn how hard the players work to make it appear that way.

In this introduction to sports nutrition students will discover just what it takes to stand shoulder to shoulder with the world’s tennis elite; will you have what it takes to match the best?

Wimbledon, the Championships and the cross rackets logo are recognised worldwide. Wimbledon is a British sporting institution with an international reputation for exceptional quality.

The marketing workshop explores the relationship between the Championships and the Museum, exposes the constraints and opportunities a relationship like this presents and how you place the qualities of a very special two week tournament into a year round attraction. Geography Tour*

Is a lawn tennis tournament as ‘green' as it looks?

There is an increasing demand for bigger and better facilities for our sporting events, both from competitors and fans alike, similarly there is a desire for these large sporting events to become more environmentally aware; but just how much can a stadium impact the environment around it?

Through exploring Wimbledon’s grounds and buildings, both old and new, used for the two weeks of the Wimbledon Championships students are encouraged to draw their own conclusions on the environmental impact of a major sporting event and what further measures for limiting this could be introduced for the future.
