My Wimbledon: Chris Evert
The three-time Ladies' Singles Champion talks about what it is that makes Wimbledon such a special place, and offers some good advice for visitors.  READ MORE

With three Wimbledon titles, Chris Evert has reason to have fond memories of her time here in SW19.

Why I love Wimbledon: "I love the tradition, the history, the royalty, the pageantry, everyone wearing all white. Playing on a grass court, especially a well-kept grass court, all your senses are high. It was always such a thrill for me to be playing on Centre Court. And I love how the All England Club looks after the former champions. No other Grand Slam tournament looks after their champions as Wimbledon does. When you win Wimbledon, they make you a Member and I receive two tickets every day of the tournament. I tend to give those tickets to my family."

My advice for a fan attending Wimbledon for the first time: "You need to have a Pimm's. And you need to have some strawberries, and to have afternoon tea. And, if you can, to sit on Centre Court."

My first memory of watching Wimbledon: "I don't remember the match but I remember watching players serve-and-volleying the whole time, and the ball shooting through."

My Wimbledon highlight: "It's tough to pick out one of my three Wimbledon titles. Each, in their own way, they mean different things to me as I was at a different stage of my life for each of them."

The player from the past I would like to face and why: "Maureen Connolly. I've heard a lot about her groundstrokes, and I would love the opportunity to face her."
